YSU students surprise retiring professor in viral video

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - Dr. Frank Bosso, YSU Professor in the Department of Exercise Science, was on his last day of teaching his Physiology of Exercise class. It was also his last week as a professor before he retires next month.
In a video that went viral on popular social media app, Tik Tok, the class all held up written notes, thanking Bosso for all he's done.
"It was overwhelming," Bosso said to 21 News. "The kindness, the consideration of these young people, it just sort of brought the whole past 27 years right into a focus."
Student And President of the Exercise Science Club, which Bosso oversees, Theresa Wasylychyn was behind the act.
"I appreciate everything Dr. Bosso went through this year to make the most of the experience," Wasylychyn said. "I knew I at least wanted to do something special for him to show our gratitude of all his effort and work."
"It's been a hard hard year and a half for them," Bosso said about his students. "To think that they just didn't bail on the last day and they're thinking better than themselves."
"For a brief moment, I felt like we were all in there together," Wasylychyn said. Everybody wanted to be a part of it and that just proves how much of an impact Dr. Bosso has on our education."
"I learned more from the students than they ever learned from me," Bosso said. "I was inspired more by them than they ever were from me."
Bosso said retirement snuck up on him and he'll enjoy retirement by staying active- which is a fitting answer for an exercise science professor.
