Funeral arrangements have been announced for Sister Jerome Corcoran.

Calling hours will be Thursday at the Ursuline Motherhouse on Shields Road in Canfield from 3 to 5 p.m. Anyone going to the calling hours at the Motherhouse must wear a face mask and show proof of vaccination.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Michael Parish in Canfield Friday at 4 p.m. Calling hours will also be held from 2 to 3:45 p.m. at the church.

Sister Jerome passed away Sunday at the age of 105. She was a longtime leader in the community and was known for her work in education and as an advocate for the poor.

She was a 1934 graduate of Ursuline High School and entered the Ursuline Sisters of Youngstown in 1935.

Sister Jerome was active in the church for more than 78 years and taught at a number of schools across the Valley including Ursuline, St. Rose, and St. Nicholas.

She also founded Youngstown Community School and the Millcreek Children's Center in the 1990s.

In 2016, Sister Jerome was inducted into the Ohio Senior Citizens Hall of Fame at the age of 100.

Memorial donations can be made to the Ursuline Sisters of Youngstown. All proceeds will be used to continue Sister Jerome's mission to care for the poor and for education.
