GROVE CITY, Pa. - Police have charged a suspect in the beating death of his wife at their apartment at a Grove City business the couple operated.

A criminal complaint was filed Friday in District Court charging 58-year-old Randall Harland Leaf of Grove City with criminal homicide and aggravated assault

Grove City Police found the body of 53-year-old Gretchen Pallack at her S. Broad Street apartment on Wednesday when called there for a medical emergency.

The apartment is in the same building as Superior Bedding mattress store, which Leaf owns.

The complaint alleges that Leaf struck Pallack in the head with a dumbbell.

Police found Leaf in the apartment bleeding from lacerations on his wrists and neck that officers believe were self-inflicted.

Leaf told officers that his wife, Gretchen Leaf, was downstairs, where police found her body.

Mercer County Coroner John Libonati ruled that the victim died from blunt force trauma to the head.

Leaf will be arraigned in district court after he is released from a hospital.
