Cortland man jailed again for parole violation

A Cortland man charged with crimes against three family members was jailed again following a probation violation.
According to court records, Van McWreath, 48, was booked into the Trumbull County Jail on Wednesday after violating bail conditions that he has no contact with his family. Following a court hearing, McWreath was released on a $2,500 bond.
The Tiffin City School Board has accepted the resignation of McWreath, who only recently was appointed superintendent of that district in western Ohio.
McWreath faces three counts of unlawful restraint for allegedly blocking his wife and two stepdaughters in the basement of their Cortland home.
An August pre-trial hearing has been scheduled for McWreath in Trumbull County Central District Court.
According to state records, since first obtaining his teaching license in 2000, McWreath has worked in the Ashtabula City, Pymatuning Valley, and Painesville School districts.
