Salem Police are warning of an ongoing scam happening in the community.

Police say a man is allegedly trying to scam people out of money by posing as someone from the Fraternal Order of Police.

The scam comes as the FOP #88 Quaker Lodge is working with Center Stage Productions to hold a concert fundraiser in the fall.

While the FOP and Center Stage Productions are collecting donations for the fundraiser, they will not ask anyone to write a check to them personally or ask for cash donations.

Police say the reported scammer is using the name "Eric Uphold."

Anyone that believes they have donated to the scam can contact police.
