Trumbull Commissioners, Chamber, look for public input on rescue funds

Trumbull County Commissioners will hold a public meeting with several other groups on Tuesday to discuss how to use funds from the American Rescue Plan.
The Trumbull County Commissioners will join the Western Reserve Port Authority, the Youngstown Warren Regional Chamber, and the Valley Economic Development Partners Tuesday morning to get input on the use of the more than $110 million the Valley will receive from the American Rescue Plan.
This meeting comes after controversy surrounding the first meeting being closed to the public.
Mauro Cantalamessa, a Trumbull County Commissioner, told 21 News on Thursday that a private meeting was not unlawful due to Ohio's sunshine law. He was the only Trumbull County Commissioner present, which does not meet the quorum that requires a meeting to be open to the public.
Commissioner Niki Frenchko advocated for these meetings to be public, telling 21 News on Thursday her concerns about the public not having the chance to be a part of the conversation.
The meeting is open to the public and will take place immediately after the Commissioners' Workshop at 11 a.m. in the Commissioners Hearing Room on the fifth floor of the administration building, located at 160 High Street NW in Warren.
