Local representatives request update on pensions for Delphi retirees

WASHINGTON - A number of local representatives, including Tim Ryan, Bill Johnson and David Joyce, made their latest push to restore pensions for Delphi Salaried Retirees.
The group penned a letter to Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen requesting a status update on a Trump-era Delphi Report.
According to the release, the letter follows an October 2020 memo requesting a review of the Delphi pension issues and potential actions to address the problem.
The representatives say the Delphi Salaried Pension Plan was unfairly terminated. The release says nearly 22,000 salaried Delphi employees had their benefits significantly reduced.
Bruce Gump, Chairman of the Delphi Salaried Retirees Association, said the group has been working towards the restoration of the pension plan for 12 years.
Tim Ryan previously spoke to President Biden about the issue in March.
The representatives say they have not seen or been made aware of the report they requested in October.
