Champion Schools teachers' union sends notice of intent to strike

The Champion Local Schools Board of Education announced Wednesday night that they have recieved a Notice of Intent to Strike from the teachers' union.
In a letter posted on the school district's Facebook page, school board member David Mahan details the school's reasoning for not accepting the union's negotiations for higher pay.
The letter states that they have been in negotiations for three months school board has offered the union the highest raise of any Trumbull County School during this negotiation year, and will make Champion teachers the third highest paid teachers in the county.
Mahan says that the union has requested the Board of Education to use emergency relief funds given to the school for COVID-19 relief.
The teachers' union will picket at the next mediation negotiation session alongside other teachers' unions and community members.
