NILES, Ohio - A Niles Street Crime Unit officer investigated a male whom he believed was wanted by U.S. Marshals, leading to a major arrest on Tuesday.

After confirming the warrant was valid, the Street Crime Units, the U.S. Marshal's Fugitive Task Force and the Detective Bureau surrounded the male's home.

Officers gained entry and found the male hidden in a hidden room built off of an upstairs bedroom containing multiple assault rifles, sniper rifles, illegal silencers, firearms parts and materials to assemble firearms.

The male suspect, Richard M. Lacella (45) was a previously convicted felon under indictment and is barred by law of possessing firearms of any kind.

ATF officers took over the investigation and found the possibility of illegally assembled firearms from inside the residence. A quantity of suspected methamphetamine was also seized from the home.

Another male at the scene, Nieto Edwardo Aaron was also found to have an active warrant from the Trumbull County Sheriff and was also arrested.

Lacella is currently in Mahoning County Jail without bond.
