Police to focus on impaired drivers for Labor Day Weekend

COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Ohio State Highway Patrol will be making an effort to keep impaired drivers off the road on Labor Day Weekend.
Ohio Governor Mike DeWine urges all Ohioans to have a sober designated driver to drive them home if they are not sober.
"Protect yourself, your passengers and others on the road by making smart choices and planning a safe ride home," DeWine said.
During Labor Day Weekend of 2020, Ohio saw 13 fatal crashes resulting in a total of 15 deaths. Additionally, OSP Troopers made 545 impairment arrests during Labor Day Weekend of 2020.
The 2021 Labor Day Weekend reporting begins Friday, Sept. 3 at 12:00 a.m. and ends on Monday, Sept. 6 at 11:59 p.m.
Any motorists who believe someone is driving while impaired are encouraged to call #677 to report any impaired drivers and/or drug activity to OSP Troopers.
