SANDUSKY, Ohio - Cedar Point guests said saying goodbye to one of its major roller coasters on Labor Day.

Wicked Twister is closing permanently on Sept. 6.

The park said in an earlier statement that the ride will be removed and the area will be used for "future park improvements."

When Wicked Twister opened back in 2002 it was described as "the world's first record-breaking, double-impulse, five-time-LIM motor-launching, screeching teal and sunburst yellow steel behemoth,"

Park officials say Wicked Twister has given more than 16 million rides to park goers.

The closure of the ride comes just days after Cedar Point announced the closure of the Top Thrill Dragster through the end of the summer while an investigation is conducted to determine how a piece of metal fell, injuring a park guest.
