Lawmaker removed from Lakeview School Board meeting for not wearing mask

A Valley lawmaker was removed from a school board meeting Monday night for not wearing a mask.
State Representative Mike Loychik was escorted out of the Lakeview School Board meeting by the student resource officer.
Loychik said he was at the meeting to speak about making masks optional for students. He said wearing a mask would have made him look hypocritical.
The Republican lawmaker spoke to those against the mandate outside after being removed.
More than a dozen people gathered outside Lakeview High School during the meeting to protest the district's mask mandate. A number of them carried signs and waved flags against the district.
The Lakeview School District currently requires all students and staff to wear a mask regardless of vaccination status.
The Center for Disease Control recommends universal indoor masking for all students, staff, teachers and visitors to K-12 schools regardless of vaccination status.
Below is a video of Loychik speaking after his dismissal from the meeting.
