Valley dentist recommends new sleep apnea device

Getting a good night's sleep always sounds amazing but to those who have sleep apnea, it can be tough.
Doctors are now recommending an alternative sleeping device to help those getting a better night's rest.
Old sleep apnea devices covered your nose and are bulky to sleep with, but now a smaller alternative device is being used with no major tubes or need for electricity.
Doctor Charles Verbanic from Pristine Dental explains, "THIS IS AN ORAL SLEEP APPLIANCE AND ITS SOMETHING YOU WEAR IN YOUR MOUTH AND IT WORKS VERY WELL FOR THOSE WHO HAVE MODERATE SLEEP APENA OR THOSE CANT WEAR A CPAP MACHINE."
How does the device work?
"SO, YOU CLOSE INTO TO IT AT NIGHT AND IT BRINGS YOUR LOWER JAW FORWARD AND OPENS UP YOUR BITE A LITTLE BIT AND ALLOWS MORE AIR TO FLOW THROUGH."
More and more dentists are now recommending the device due to the recall on CPAP machines.
The FDA issued a warning back in June for a failed filter that led to health issues in the machines.
IN ORDER TO GET THE new mouthpiece YOU NEED TO TAKE An overnight sleep study AND DETERMINE HOW SEVERE YOUR case of SLEEP APENA IS.
"THESE ARE CUSTOM-FITTED TO YOUR MOUTH. WITH OUR NEW TECHNOLOGY, WE DON'T HAVE TO TAKE IMPRESSIONS ANYMORE. WE CAN TAKE SCANS OF YOUR UPPER ARCH AND LOWER ARCH."
Typically most insurances either cover half, if not all the total cost, and it is also fully covered by medicare.
