It's been a classic to Transfer, Pennsylvania since the 1940s.

This weekend, the Reynolds Drive-In will be packed with cars as they open back up on October 1 after storm damage destroyed the projector screen in November 2020.

"The storm hit us the second week of November of last year," said Peggy Fiedler, Owner of Reynolds Drive-In. "It took down the whole screen and hit our stage a little bit."

It took Fiedler about 6 months to find someone to build another screen and another 4 months to obtain the materials and have it installed.

$318,000 later, Fiedler said they've been hearing from dozens about just how excited the community is to have the drive in open again.

"They've been waiting a long time for it and we've been trying as hard as we can to do it as fast as we could," said Stephanie Davis, Co-owner of Reynolds Drive-In.

The year that they were closed also gave them time to entirely renovate their cafe. Fiedler also told 21 News she's heard several stories about generations coming back to the drive-in to share their favorite memories from the decades.

"It's in their hearts," Fiedler said. "We had two ladies, they were sisters, and they told us about dancing on the rooftop on Sundays and it was chicken pie days. It's just exciting to watch people come out and talk about it."

Opening night is this Friday, October 1. The films 'Jungle Cruise' and 'Free Guy' will be the first two movies to be shown.
