Nonviolence Parade and Rally to take place in Youngstown

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - Mahoning Valley Sojourn to the Past, the City of Youngstown, Youngstown City Schools, CIRV, and YSU are holding the Eleventh Annual Nonviolence Parade and Rally at 3p.m. on Sunday, October 3.
The parade will kick off Ohio Nonviolence Week, October 3-9, and will begin at the corner of Wick Avenue and Wood Street through town to the Amphitheatre.
The rally will take place immediately after the parade.
The purpose of the event is to encourage members of the community to think about the need to work for nonviolence in the community.
The parade is open to all nonprofit organizations such as youth and community groups, schools, athletic teams, churches, as well as businesses and government officials.
Participants can walk, drive, or create a float. Awards will be given for the organization with the best banner and the best float that carries out the theme of nonviolence and peace.
There will also be a trophy given to the group with the best overall presentation for peace and nonviolence.
There is no fee to participate in the event.
