Youngstown students had the opportunity to chat with one of the most recognizable actors on TV Saturday morning.

Students from the Kool Boiz Foundation spoke with Kevin Miles during a Zoom conference.

The name Kevin Miles might not sound familiar but he is well known under a different name - Jake from State Farm.

The man behind the red shirt and khaki pants-wearing character shared his story with the students, discussing his journey to where he is today.

Miles grew up on the south side of Chicago before making his way into acting. He talked with the students about sleeping in his car early in his career to becoming the face of State Farm and starring alongside Patrick Mahomes, Aaron Rodgers and Chris Paul in television ads.

His appearance was part of the Young Men's Virtual Empowerment Conference designed for young men of color in grades 7-12. The conference focuses on long-term success through education, leadership, life skills and hard work.

The conversation with Miles covered the mindset and determination that he brings to his career. He even recommended some books to students to help them learn about having a strong work ethic.

Students were also able to ask Miles questions about his work and life.
