Sojourner House receives donation from local high school, prosecutor's office

MAHONING COUNTY, Ohio - The Sojourner House was presented with a donation of essential items after a month long drive organized by a local high school and prosecutor's office.
A student from South Range High School's Key Club reached out to the Mahoning County Prosecutor's Office team up for the donation drive.
"It was just about asking our students and the student body to get involved," said Macenzee Gall, student at South Range High School and President of the school's Key Club.
Macenzee came up with the idea after she noticed a flyer posted by the prosecutor's office at the Canfield Fair, asking for donations.
The donations were collected throughout the month of October, which is known as Domestic Violence Awareness month.
The Sojourner House is a program of COMPASS Community and Family Services that provides shelter and other essential services to victims of domestic violence across Mahoning County.
"I am so proud of the efforts of the South Range School District Key Club, who helped accumulate, collect, and personally deliver many of these items," said Gina DeGenova, Chief Assistant Prosecutor at the Mahoning County Prosecutor's Office.
Over the course of October, the drive received over three thousand donations including items such as personal items, gift cards, and monetary donations.
