Mahoning Co. Sheriff's Office delivering Thanksgiving meals to senior citizens

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - The Mahoning County Sheriff's Office is hosting its 14th annual Thanksgiving for Seniors event Wednesday morning.
The Sheriff's Office Senior Services Program will provide Thanksgiving dinners to referred senior citizens that are unable to cook, are homebound or do not have resources to get dinner.
After a year off in 2020 due to COVID, sheriff deputies are set to begin delivering turkeys at 11 a.m.
A number of local businesses and organizations donated to the program including Adult Protection Services, Americorp, Austintown Senior Center, Comfort Keepers, Communicate, Direction Home of NE Ohio, Easter Seals and the Austintown Rotary.
Side dishes for the meals were prepared by the Austintown Senior Center while Sheriff Jerry Greene and other Sheriff deputies cooked the turkeys.
It's always a good feeling," Sheriff Greene. "We weren't able to do this last year because of COVID, so its really nice to get back and greet some seniors in the community."
