Hubbard contractor on way to raising $30,000 for Animal Welfare League of Trumbull County

One Facebook post may help some furry friends get extra care in Trumbull County.
Hubbard-based DeSalvo Construction gave a Giving Tuesday challenge to their employees, subcontractors, clients and friends on November 30. For every like and share the post received, the company promised to donate $10 to the Animal Welfare League of Trumbull County. The company even said they would donate an additional $10 for every photo of a pet that was shared in the post's comment section, up to a total of $10,000.
The goal was reached in less than 24 hours.
But now the generosity will continue, as DeSalvo Construction decided to double their challenge and make a dollar for dollar donation through a Facebook fundraiser for the AWL. They again will match up to $10,000, with a goal of giving a total $30,000 to the AWL when the fundraiser ends at midnight on December 31.
AWL CEO Lori Shandor said that gifts like this go towards extra care for animals.
"Dental care for our animals is something we like to do for our animals when a donation of this size is given to us," said Shandor. "Dental care is expensive but gives the animals extended care on top of what we already do for them."
Shandor said the AWL will also consult with DeSalvo Construction to see how they would like the donation to be spent with animals.
The fundraiser currently has $1,080 of donations, multiplying to $2,160 when matched with the contractor. That brings the grand total to $12,160, just under 50% of the final goal.
