WARREN, Ohio -
The Warren police and fire departments are currently collecting new, un-wrapped toys for children of all ages this Christmas.

The toy drive is organized by St. Paul's Lutheran Church, which has noticed a decline in donations ahead of its deadline ends Sunday, December 19.

"It seems like maybe people are having a hard time coming out of the pandemic and maybe a little more reserved on how much they're willing to donate this year," Stacey Altiere said, youth director at St. Paul's.

The donation drive that partners with local safety forces is in its third year.

Altiere says donations will make their way to children in need at Someplace Safe and the Warren Urban League's Christy House Shelter.

"They have children in both facilities, so for obvious reasons, to bring a Christmas morning to a child that's been displaced is really something that we try to get behind every year and help them out," Altiere said.

New, unwrapped toys for all ages from infants to teens, can be dropped off in bins at the Warren Police Department, the Warren Fire Department and at St. Paul's Lutheran Church at 2860 E. Market Street in Warren.

The deadline to donate is Sunday.
