The Mahoning County Dog Warden's Office is looking for anyone who may have information on a dog that was found in a trash bag in Mill Creek Park.

According to the office, the dog was discovered by Mill Creek Police on New Years Eve Day in the Volney Rogers area of the park.

Officials say the dog appears to have been hit by a car. Its not clear if the person who may have hit the dog placed the animal in the white trash bag, or if someone who came across the dog placed it in the trash bag.

Kennel Manager Lisa Hill says they encourage anyone who hits a dog to call police or the dog wardens office so they can assist in finding the animal's owner.

In this case, the dog was a female black and white pit bull. The dog was wearing a black collar, but did not have tags or a micro chip.

Anyone with information is asked to call 330-740-2205.
