YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - Youngstown State University is requiring a negative COVID test for residents before the 2022 spring move-in.

The spring move-in occurs on Sunday, January 9. To move-in or return on Sunday, students must show a negative test result from Thursday, January 6 or later.

Students had the opportunity to take home a free COVID test kit when they left for winter break and can also pick up a free kit upon their return, starting on January 5 at their residence hall desk.

Students can also take a test on their own accord in the 72-hour window. The test can be a PCR or antigen test organized through a doctor's office or a pharmacy.

The University says official documentation showing the student's name and negative result within the 72-hour window is needed.

A registered nurse will also be available from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Bresnahan Suites in the Kilcawley Center to assist with in-person testing.

Testing is not required for students who have tested positive for COVID within 90 days of check-in. Proof of positive test must be shown and cleared by housing managers in that case.

If you test positive, YSU says students living close to home will have to return and isolate themselves before coming back to campus. YSU Housing does have dedicated isolation housing for students if they can not return home.
