Lakeview students set 'Guinness World Record' to bring awareness

Students at Lakeview High School can now add 'Guinness World Record Holder' to their resume.
In December, several 9th grade students joined people from all across the globe to try and set the record for 'most people completing a 3D printing lesson in one day.'
The group was successful!
In all, 1,816 people, including other students, surgeons, engineers from around the world logged-on.
The goal of the lesson was to not only set a world record, but to bring awareness to the difference affordable assistive technology can make for those with disabilities.
The challenge consisted of students watching two training videos to learn more about how assistive devices help people with disabilities complete routine technology tasks, like moving a computer mouse, and how these devices can be created with 3D printers.
"This activity broadened students' perspectives to realize how they can positively impact people who have a different daily experience than their own," said Teacher Kari Milliron. "I love that students combined a variety of skills -- research, problem-solving, creative thinking, and additive technology -- to create something useful and helpful."
The challenge took part on December 3rd, which is International Day of Persons with Disabilities.
