About 1500 Struthers residents are being left in the dark after a giant tree fell onto First Energy electrical equipment on one of the city's busiest roadways.
While wide-ranges of the city are experiencing the power outage, the tree fell near the intersection of 5th Street and Hamilton Boulevard.
The power is expected to be out until at least 11 p.m. and First Energy crews currently have limited access to the tree-struck equipment.
A forestry crew has been called in to clean the tree debris, according to a First Energy spokesperson. First Energy will be able to access the area safely once the branches and bark are taken away.
First Energy's website currently shows that at least 1,484 residents don't have power.
It is unclear what caused the large tree to fall.
