Mahoning Valley - Second Harvest Food Bank of the Mahoning Valley is inviting the community to participate in the 31st Annual Harvest for Hunger campaign during March, April and May.

The campaign is a food and funds drive that takes place each year to help restock the food bank's shelves for the next spring and summer months.

Anyone interested in participating by conducting a food and/or funds drive to benefit the food bank should contact Julia Varner at 330-792-5522 ext. 111 or download a registration form here.

Customers who are out grocery shopping can also make contributions to Second Harvest from March 1 through April 16 with the Check Out Hunger program.

Customers can either donate $1, $5 or $10 directly at the cash register when checking out at participating grocery stores.

Participating stores include Giant Eagle, GetGo and Sparkle Market. Non-perishable food items will be collected at area Sparkle Markets.

Last year, Second Harvest raised $231,559 and collected over 24,000 pounds of food.

Sponsors include Giant Eagle, WFMJ, WBCB, The Tribune Chronicle/The Vindicator, HOT 101, K-105, Y-103, Z-104 and UFCW Local 800.
