YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - Boxing and beer- two things there's no shortage of in Youngstown.

The two will come together in a series of three 'Fight Night at the Brewery' boxing matches hosted at the new Penguin City Beer facility in Downtown Youngstown that's set to open this April.

A few months back, the owners of Penguin City reached out to Jack Loew, owner of Southside Boxing Club to talk about a potential partnership.

Loew has been involved in boxing around the Valley for over 30 years, and has trained many boxers including middleweight Champion Kelly Pavlik.

"We've always talked about bringing boxing into our brewery," said Aspasia Lyras-Bernacki, Co-Owner of Penguin City Beer. "It's the perfect atmosphere for it."

The first of the three matches will be held on July 16th, with twelve amateur bouts.

Following the first event, a second is scheduled for September 17th. The third date is yet to be determined, but will be sometime around the holidays.

An afterparty in the Penguin City taproom will follow each fight.

"Southside Boxing Club is extremely excited about partnering up with Penguin City Beer for multiple amateur boxing shows in Downtown Youngstown," said Loew.

Tickets are not available just yet, but will be sold at both the brewery and at the Southside Boxing Club.
