Information from an alert passerby led to the arrest of four men and a teenager allegedly trying to hide guns following a traffic accident in Mercer County.

State Police were told that men involved in a single-car crash along Interstate 80 in Wolf Creek Township on Thursday appeared to make several trips from the crash scene to a nearby wooded area.

Police brought in a tracking K-9 who they say helped lead them to crack cocaine and two stolen guns in the woods.  One of the firearms had been modified to be fully automatic.

Investigators say a sixteen-year-old boy was carrying marijuana.

In a compartment under the vehicle’s floorboard, police say they found an empty pistol magazine.

Police have filed charges against the five Chicago, Illinois suspects, including Thomas Flores, 19, Noel Hernandez, 27, Angel Mendez, 23, and Francisco Silva, 22.
