Struthers Rotary Club takes 'Pollinator Pledge' to preserve areas for migrating monarch butterflies

The Struthers Rotary Club took the "Pollinator Pledge" to help create, maintain and preserve areas for migrating monarch butterflies.
There are seven gardens across the city. Rotary Club President Karen Edwards tells 21 news these way stations are needed for these pollinators due to the drastic drop in the monarch population within the last decade.
"We are trying everything to create these gardens so that we can provide milkweed for the monarchs to lay their eggs and create butterflies for their migration," Edwards said.
Milkweed is the only flower monarch butterflies will lay their eggs on.
Edwards tells us she hopes to get more rotary clubs involved in signing pledges to help other pollinators such as birds and bees across the Mahoning Valley.
