Brookfield Police ID suspects in TikTok 'drive-by' shooting challenge

BROOKFIELD TOWNSHIP, Ohio - Brookfield Police say they have identified suspects who may have taken part in a social media trend involving firing gel-filled projectiles at other people.
According to the police department’s Facebook page, authorities know who is suspected of firing so-called “Orbeez” guns at people last week.
Police posted the update on Facebook after showing pictures of a Chevrolet Captiva that officers believe was involved in firing the guns at people in a neighborhood earlier this month.
The updated post did not name the suspects in what police believe is part of a Tik-Tok challenge.
Several police departments around the country have issued warnings about the #OrbeexGun trend, encouraging “drive-by shootings” using the gel blaster.
According to Fernandina Beach, Florida Police, Orbeez is soft, non-toxic, and biodegradable, but could cause injury if striking a person at a high speed or in a sensitive area such as the eyes.
The trend also has the potential to cause fear or panic in that some of these gel blaster guns could be mistaken for an actual firearm, say police.
