A Warren man arrested by police following a pursuit through city streets, over curbs, lawns, and sidewalks, pleaded "not guilty" to multiple charges in municipal court on Monday.

A judge ordered that 24-year-old Sarvez Gilmore remain jailed without bond on charges of receiving stolen property, burglary, and failure to comply with a police order.

Just after midnight Thursday, a city police officer reports chasing a stolen Ford Escape on East Market Street.

According to the report, another officer joined the chase which reached speeds of 65 miles per hour along city streets, through parking lots, over lawns, and sidewalks before the driver bailed out when the car got stuck around the 2100 block of Peace Avenue.

It was there that officers found a young couple who said someone had barged into their apartment. The report says the two were frantic because their baby was sleeping upstairs.

Hiding under a bed, officers say they found Gilmore, who denied being the person police were looking for.

A search of the area turned up a bag containing a Nintendo Switch game console, an iPhone, and RayBan sunglasses, which police say had been stolen during recent burglaries at the River Run Apartments.

Another court hearing for Gilmore is scheduled for Thursday.
