Youngstown Symphony Orchestra tuning up for Tchaikovsky and Mozart show in May

The Youngstown Symphony Orchestra is preparing for a concert featuring performances of classical legends Tchaikovsky and Mozart later this spring.
On Saturday, May 7, the YSO will take to the stage inside the Concert Hall at Stambaugh Auditorium with its Principal Guest Conductor, Miriam Burns, at the helm. Burns currently works as a Visiting Professor and Director of the Orchestras at The Ohio State University and also serves as Music Director of The Orchestra of the Redeemer in New York City where she resides.
"In May, the concert will end with the Tchaikovsky 5, which is one of my all-time favorite pieces, the audience, I'm sure, will love it," Burns was quoted saying in a release.
Star soloist clarinet player Nicholas Thompson will also be a featured performer in the show. Thompson, who also plays in the Lima Symphony Orchestra, has left a mark on the arts and culture scene in Michigan. Thompson co-founded the Chamber Artists of Southeast Michigan, a group that focuses on cultural experiences that gift scholarships and educational opportunities to students.
Tickets for the YSO performance are on sale at the Stambaugh Auditorium box office or online at youngstownsymphony.com.
