Struggling Mahoning County residents facing a number of situations could get free essential home items and furniture from now until the end of 2022.

Mahoning County Job and Family Services has given funding to MYCAP that will provide qualifying Mahoning County residents a stove, refrigerator, washer, dryer and/or a crib, the community agency announced Wednesday.

Qualifying residents will need to meet certain criteria, but many people are likely to qualify. Applicants would need to make no more than 200%, or double the poverty line for 2022.

MYCAP says residents also must employed or at risk of losing current employment through no fault of their own and must have a minor or minors living at home and attending school. Single pregnant mothers also qualify.

All applying residents must be U.S. citizens to qualify, MYCAP says.

Applications can be picked up at the MYCAP office located at 1325 Fifth Ave in Youngstown.

They will be inside of envelopes labeled "Emergency Home Services" and can be picked up any day during business hours.

Applications are available until December 31, 2022.
