New intergenerational center at YSU wants to connect older and younger generations

YOUNGSTOWN - Youngstown State University is spearheading a new initiative to bring young and older adults together.
The university is holding an event Monday, April 18 from 9a.m. to in Beeghly Hall to celebrate the new Intergenerational Center at YSU.
The event will include information on the new center, as well as a keynote address from Joann Montepare, who is a professor of Psychology and director of the Rosemary B. Fuss Center for Research on Aging and Intergenerational Studies at Lasell University in Newton, Massachusetts.
The new Intergenerational center at YSU is a collaboration with the university and the Ohio Living Senior Center and aims to encourage intergenerational interactions in Youngstown through intellectual, physical and social development.
The center will also be a hub for older and younger members of the community to foster relationships through community service, mentoring, experiential learning and social events.
