BOARDMAN, Ohio - Boardman Local Schools will be introducing new technology in its K-8 buildings to make the lunch line go a little faster giving students more time to eat.

It's called a biometric scanner, which will be used to scan student's fingers to identify them rather than the district's current system of having students punch in their ID numbers on a keypad.

The technology will identify students by the ridges of their finger rather than their fingerprints and will assign a number to each child. Those numbers are then stored in the system for school identification purposes.

Boardman Local Schools had previous introduced this new technology to its Center Intermediate School during the past school year and experienced great success with it.
