Mercer County standoff suspect was listed as parole violator

A suspect accused of holding police at bay during a half-day-long standoff in a Mercer County community was wanted for violating his parole.
According to online records, 33-year-old Michael Scott was wanted as a parole absconder when State Police were called out late Wednesday morning to a home in Clarks Mills in Perry Township.
Police say the incident began after Scott went into a man's apartment on Lake Wilhelm Road and threatened to kill him.
The victim told police that Scott was known to carry a gun.
According to a news release, the victim said Scott wanted to "commit suicide by cop and would not be going down without a fight."
Officers set up a perimeter and the apartment building was evacuated.
A number of attempts were made to get Scott to come out of the building but he would not leave.
The Pennsylvania State Police Response Team responded to the scene and convinced Scott to come outside, where he was taken into custody.
Scott is being held in the Mercer County Jail awaiting a court hearing on charges of burglary, criminal trespass, terroristic threats, and a firearm violation.
Route 358 was closed between Route 19 and Interstate 79 during the standoff.
