BROOKFIELD TOWNSHIP, Ohio - Brookfield Police are warning residents to be careful when allowing children and pets outside due to bear sightings in the area.

According to a Facebook post from the department, police have received several reports of a bear spotted near Seaburn, Grove and Wood Streets. Police say only call 911 if there is immediate danger.

Trumbull County Dispatch has received numerous calls about sightings of the bear.

One caller reported that the bear was in the middle of the road near Grove Street blocking traffic. Another Grove Street caller reported that the bear kept walking in and out of the woods of their back yard.

Police are not actively searching for the bear and say it will pass through in time. In the meantime, Brookfield residents should keep an eye on their kids and pets and not let them near the bear.
