SALEM, Ohio - Wild City Feed and Seed is a downtown Salem store catering to the needs of those who enjoy feeding and watching birds, squirrels and other local wildlife.

The store offers food for humming birds, red birds, regular birds and squirrels. Aside from food, the press release states the store carries whirligigs, bird baths, bird and squirrel feeders, bird, bee and butterfly houses, and garden and house flags.

Owners Kevin Shaffer, Bill Faith and Thomas Scheetz held a grand opening celebration Saturday, June 18.

Shaffer is a life-long Columbiana County resident who's lived in Salem for years. He recently retired, and decided he needed something to do.

"After doing research and talking to members of the community, I recognized the need for a feed store, especially after Birds Unlimited closed due to COVID-19," Shaffer said.

Wild City Feed and Seed will host craft days for children, during which they can build and paint bird houses.

The store, located at 119 S. Broadway Ave., is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday - Thursday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday and it is closed Sunday and Monday.

It will begin online sales once internet is established at the location.
