Juveniles arrested in connection to death of 14-year-old Youngstown boy identified

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - Youngstown police have arrested two teens in connection to the death of 14-year-old Landon Lockhart.
According to the release, charges were filed Wednesday against two 16-year-old male juveniles.
Mahoning County Juvenile Court Administrator Wes Skeels tells 21 News the two charged are Anjuan Whitfield and Anthony Wilkins. Both face charges of aggravated murder with a firearm specification.
An arraignment hearing was scheduled for both teens on July 6.
Following their arraignment, a probable cause hearing will be held. If a judge finds probable cause for the charges at that time, their cases will automatically be bound over to adult court.
Both juveniles have criminal records from separate incidents. Wilkins has felony vandalism and robbery charges and misdemeanor assault. Whitfield also has vandalism and robbery charges as well as felonious assault and assault charges.
Wilkins and Whitfield were arrested on May 11 on probation violations and had been held at the juvenile justice center since.
Lockhart went missing in November 2021 and local, state and federal resources were used in an attempt to find him.
After numerous attempts to find Lockhart, YPD detectives found his body in a wooded area off North Truesdale Avenue on the morning of January 13.
Lockhart's murder was the first homicide in Youngstown in 2022.
