NEWTON FALLS, Ohio - The owner of a pit bull who attacked multiple dogs in Newton Falls, killing one of them has changed his plea in court Thursday morning.

Newton Falls Clerk of Courts tells 21 News 42-year-old William Dempsey originally pleaded not guilty to his charges of Dog at Large, but changed his plea to no contest.

According to Newton Falls Police, after the second attack, which resulted in the death of a dog, Dempsey said he planned to have his dog euthanized because he did not trust it around his kids.

Proof of euthanasia has since been filed in Newton Falls Municipal Court.

Dempsey is scheduled for sentencing on September 22.
