AUSTINTOWN, Ohio - Calling hours and funeral services have been announced for a local pizza legend.

Wedgewood Pizza owner Fernando Riccioni passed away on July 18th at the age of 91.

Calling hours for Fernando will be held Sunday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes Boardman-Canfield Chapel.

A funeral service will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at St. Michael Church in Canfield.

Fernando Riccioni moved to the U.S. in 1960 and worked a number of jobs before creating a partnership that would eventually lead to "Fernando's Wedgewood Pizza."

He received many honors throughout his years for his presence in the community, where he became known as the unofficial mayor of Austintown.

Fernando received awards such as "Italian Man of the Year" at the Youngstown Italian Fest, Hall of Fame for Austintown Township, National Independent Pizza Operator of the Year, and a two-time Grand Marshall of the Austintown Independence Parade.

He was also a major supporter of Austintown Fitch athletics.

Riccioni was given a key to the township on his 90th birthday and a bench was dedicated to him at Austintown Township Park. He also had his own table at Hollywood Gaming.

His family thanked Windsor House Canfield and Hospice of the Valley for taking good care of him.
