Community Food Warehouse of Mercer County receives $20,000 to support child hunger
Community Food Warehouse of Mercer County (CFWMC) has announced on Wednesday that it has received a $20,000 donation from the Zekelman Foundation of Western PA and Eastern Ohio for child hunger programs.
CFWMC helps to provide food annually to children in need through multiple programs including the BackPack Program and Myron's Meal Mobile, as well as through a network of local partners including food pantries, soup kitchens, after school programs and youth centers.
CFWMC's Executive Director, Rebecca Page says these funds will be helpful in continuing the organization's mission to provide children food when other resources for food are unavailable such as weekends, holidays and during the summer.
CFWMC provides food to over 30 member agencies including faith-based food pantries, soup kitchens, homeless shelters and feeding programs. The organization and its network of agencies provide food to over 4,200 households in Mercer County.
The organization also operates several other programs in the county including MilitaryShare, Mobile Pantry and the PA Senior Food Box.
