A piece of legislation aimed at getting Delphi salaried retirees their pensions restored could soon be up for a vote in the house of representatives.

It's called the Susan Muffley Act and it's set to be discussed in the House Rules Committee at 1 p.m. Friday.

The rules committee determines what items then go to the house floor for a vote.

The Susan Muffley Act was announced back in March in an attempt to help over 20,000 Delphi retirees receive their full pension.

The act is named after former Delphi employee David Muffley's wife.

David worked at Delphi for over 30 years as an electronics technician but lost the full value of his pension in 2009. Susan was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, and due to financial restraints avoided medical attention. She passed away in 2012.

The new legislation would restore terminated pensions, as well as make up the difference between the pension benefits earned by Delphi Salaried Retirees and what they received following the GM bankruptcy in 2009.

The bipartisan legislation is backed by Senators Sherrod Brown and Rob Portman and Congressmen Tim Ryan, Dan Kildee and Mike Turner.

The retirees have been fighting to restore their benefits for more than a decade.
