Youngstown City School District (YCSD) Superintendent, Justin Jennings tells 21 News the district is one of many that is experiencing a shortage of teachers and bus drivers.

Jennings tells us that the district is currently looking to hire more high school teachers in subjects like mathematics and science, as well as more bus drivers.

Jennings says the teacher shortage isn't too bad with the amount of teachers it currently has, but those specific subjects are understaffed. The district is currently looking for six to eight teachers in those subjects.

Jennings added that the bus driver shortage is even worse than the teacher shortage stating that the district needs between 20 to 30 bus drivers, as well as bus aides.

Bus drivers for YCSD make about $27 an hour and the position does come with health benefits.
