Mega Millions prize grows to $1.1B, second-largest jackpot in drawing history
ATLANTA, Ga - Friday's Mega Millions jackpot is officially the second largest in drawing history.
According to the release, the jackpot is now an estimated $1.1 billion with a cash value of $648.2 million.
The prize trails only the record $1.537 billion jackpot won on October 23, 2018. The winning ticket was sold in South Carolina and remains the largest lottery prize ever won on a single ticket.
There have been 29 drawings since the last jackpot was won on April 15. More than 28.1 million winning tickets have been sold at all prize levels, including 42 worth $1 million or more.
The jackpot has experienced significant growth since April as Mega Millions drawings start at $20 million and grow based on game sales and interest rates.
The odds of winning the drawing is 1 in 303 million.
Tickets are $2 and drawings are held at 11 p.m. on Tuesdays and Fridays.
