The Ohio State Highway Patrol has released the name of a Washingtonville man killed in a crash on the Ohio Turnpike in Beaver Township early Monday.

First responders were told that the victim, identified as 29-year-old Nicholas Cyphert, was struck shortly before 4 a.m., just before the ramp from Interstate 680.

OSP says Cyphert was outside of his semi-tractor-trailer, which had been previously disabled when a tire blew out.

After all repairs on the vehicle were made, Cyphert began walking towards the rear of the vehicle to retrieve his triangles and get back on the road when he was struck by a van that also sideswiped the semi.

OSP says alcohol was determined not to be a factor in this crash.

Traffic was restricted while state troopers conducted their investigation.
