Mahoning County Public Health plans to conduct spraying for mosquito control on the night of Friday, August 26, 2022.

They received 2022 Ohio EPA Mosquito Control Grant funding to help reduce the population of adult mosquitos.

Spraying helps protect against mosquito-borne diseases like the West Nile Virus and Zika Virus.

This summer, adult mosquito spraying is planned throughout Mahoning County is the third time this summer.

The locations listed below are on the list for treatment:

  • Canfield Fairgrounds
  • Mill Creek Park
  • Coy Park
  • Boardman Township Park
  • Austintown Township Park
  • Poland Township Park
  • Poland Village Park
  • Canfield Township Park

Spraying will be done between dusk and dawn. If it is rainy or windy, spraying will be postponed.

To help get rid of mosquito breeding sites, change the water in pet bowls and bird baths twice a week. Cleaning clogged gutters and keeping water from accumulating on tarps and boat covers will also help control the population.

If you have any bee hives in these areas, call the Environmental Health Division (330-270-2855), so spraying can be avoided in the area.
