Bomb Squad called in Trumbull County prompting road closure

Trumbull county, Ohio - The Youngstown Police Department Bomb Squad was called to a Trumbull County highway after reports of possible explosives.
It was inmates that reported what they found, and officials said everyone involved did the right thing to keep the community safe.
The ramp from Route 11 to King Graves Road in Fowler Township was closed for hours Friday morning after reports of a hand grenade around 10:30.
A group of Trumbull Correctional Institution inmates was cleaning up the highway when they alerted they found what looked like an explosive device.
Ohio State Highway Patrol called the Youngstown Bomb Squad to the scene, who later found after investigating that it was a rubber, dummy grenade and a live round of ammunition that was found.
"Youngstown Bomb Squad was contacted and removed the device from the grassy area it was located," Ohio State Highway Patrol Lt. Brian Vail said.
The Youngstown Air Reserve Station also assisted.
Vail and Youngstown police said better to be safe than sorry.
They said closing the road, reporting the object immediately, and calling the bomb squad was the right thing to do to in case it was dangerous.
OSP and the bomb squad said they do not know how the fake grenade got there or how old it was.
