Agents find fentanyl in candy boxes

LOS ANGELES - There’s another reason to check your children’s candy this Halloween.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff is telling parents to thoroughly inspect their kids’ treats before letting them eat the candy.
Detectives from the LA County Sheriff’s Narcotics Bureau and DEA agents working at the LA International Airport say they seized 12,000 fentanyl pills on Wednesday.
Deputies say a suspect attempted to go through TSA screening, attempting to board a plane with several bags of candy and snacks.
Inside the “Sweetarts”, “Skittles”, and “Whoppers” boxes were fentanyl pills and not candy.
The suspect fled but has been identified by authorities.
Investigators say if you find anything in candy boxes that you believe might be narcotics, do not touch it and immediately notify your local law enforcement agency.
