Ohio & Mahoning Valley - Various local police departments are among over 100 police departments throughout Ohio to receive grant money for body camera upgrades.

A total of $4.9 million was awarded to 112 police departments for these upgrades. Local police departments that received funding are as follows:

- Columbiana Police Department ($37,735)

- Milton Township Police Department ($17,115)

- Cortland Police Department ($12,895)

- Brookfield Police Department ($8,516)

- Niles Police Department (13,224.80)

- Vienna Township Police Department ($11,660)

Ohio Governor Mike DeWine says these funds will help agencies across the state purchase around 1,660 new body cameras and associated technology.

"Body cameras are important not only for providing transparency to the public but also for adding an extra layer of protection for our officers," Governor DeWine said.

This is the second round of grants awarded as part of the Ohio Body-Worn Camera Grant Program.
