Niles man sentenced for chasing GetGo employees

NILES, Ohio - A man with a long history of arrests for trespassing, assault, disorderly conduct, and theft will spend the next 118 days in jail after allegedly chasing employees around a convenience store in Niles.
Gabriel Morris, 29, of Niles, appeared in Niles Municipal Court on Tuesday, where he was sentenced after being found guilty of assault and resisting arrest.
In addition, the judge banned Morris from entering the GetGo or any Eastwood Mall property.
The charges stem from an incident just after midnight Sunday when three Niles Police Officers were called to the GetGo. They were told the suspect left after chasing employees through the store, stealing a Bagel Popper and a Pepperoni Mozzarella Roll.
Officers say they found Morris eating a Pepperoni Roll at Routes 46 and 422.
Police say Morris was upset and fought the officers trying to handcuff him, taking a swing at one of them.
Once on the ground and handcuffed, Morris was booked into the Trumbull County Jail on charges of assault on a police officer, resisting arrest, and criminal trespassing.
According to Niles Municipal Court records, Morris has an arrest record dating back to 2012.
